Shaving Cream Ghosts

Gather your materials:
1/4 cup white glue
3/4 cup shaving cream
sharpie
brown paper bag
big bowl
Measure out your glue. Sqqqquuuuueeeezzzze!

Then measure out the shaving cream. PUUUSSSSHHH!

First exploration into the gooey mix.

Kenna started to smoosh shaving cream onto her ghost.  She was totally into it!

Little Man (13 months) was more hesitant, and started with one finger!

 Daddy got into it, too!

You get the feeling things started to get messy when Daddy grabbed the shaving cream and offered Kenna more!

 High five, messy people!

It took over a day to dry, but when the fluffy parts were firm to the touch, I cut out the ghost shape and glued on a mouth and eyes.
Spooky!!

It's a Friendly Monster!

* Saw this great craft on another blog. My brain can't remember where. Aggravating.*
Anyhow, we grabbed a paper gift bag (Couldn't find my brown lunch bags, so fancy white ones had to do).
While Kenna went crazy with the green do-a-dot marker, I cut out a few monster bits- two eyes, a mouth and some hair.I also grabbed some giant googly eyes.
Kenna glued on the hair.

While all that was drying, I encouraged her to shred some newspaper. Generally she is a ripping and tearing maniac, but today she was all about the crumble and stuff. :) I gave her sheets of newspaper and she balled them up tightly. Great for her finger and hand strength!

Balling up some newspaper.

I taped up his "neck" and Kenna decided he needed a final detail- a lloooong piece of scotch tape down his face. Perfect, she told me. Then,"WAAAIIITTT Mommy, he has no nose!!!"  A few snips of construction paper and our "friendly monster" was ready for action! We may make a few more of these before the month is over. They are so cute! Next time, maybe I'll let her cut out her own facial features... that should be hilarious!

When the baby won't stop crying...

...we turn to Kumon. If you haven't used these awesome workbooks yet, you are missing out! These are awesome activity books that Kenna is able to complete on her own now (after a year of my working with her each day on them). There's cutting. And gluing.
And fun mazes! (Well, this is supposed to be a maze activity where you draw a line through all of the pictures, starting at the dot and ending at the star. Kenna chose to circle every object, and then draw a big circle around all the objects. )
We put our mazes in sheet protectors and complete them with dry erase markers, so that we can redo mazes over and over, and also so that Little Man and Quinn can use them when they are older! ( I store them all in a three-ring binder). I can hand a bunch of these activities to Kenna and she can be working and learning even when I have a fussy newborn to deal with. :) Kumon workbooks are great additions to our Tot School even when I have plenty of time to work with her. I have all of the books geared for 2s, 3s and 4s. I plan to invest in the rest of the books in a year or two. We also have some of the flashcards- I just remembered! I need to pull those out... Kenna would love them!
